COURSE OUTLINE

​

Module 01 – MS Excel

​

Excel has always been the key tool to start and validate data analysis skills. Key concepts include Vlook up, Pivot table, Index, Sumif, and macros. Also included in this course is the Analysis of large data set using an excel toolset.

1.1 Basic Excel

Excel Basic Review Quiz (if already have mastery in Basic Excel) · Creating, modifying, and formatting worksheet · Basic Excel Functions · Basic Charts and Templates.

1.2 Intermediate Excel

Excel Intermediate Review Quiz (if already have mastery in Intermediate Excel) · Manipulating large files and multiple worksheets · Rules and Conditional formatting · Practical use of excel functions.

1.3 Advanced Excel

Vlook up · Pivoting · Indexing · Macros · Data Visualization · Data Analysis – Large data set

Hands-on Exercise for a consolidated project that comprises of all tools and tips learnt in individual lessons.

 

Module 02 – SQL

​

SQL is required to understand the technical depth of building databases and extracting data from large data pools. Key Concepts include:

2.1 Foundational SQL Clauses

Write and execute a basic query and recognize its basic structure Build DML SQL queries using foundational SQL clauses such as: SELECT, DISTINCT, FROM, WHERE, GROUP BY, HAVING ORDER BY, LIMIT, OFFSET ·

2.2 Generating and Modifying tables

 Generate and modify new tables using DDL commands such as: CREATE, DROP, ALTER, TRUNCATE, and CHANGE

2.3 Write and Execute Basic Query

Identify entity, domain, and referential integrity and learn to apply each to their respective constraint. Hands-on Exercise for a consolidated project that comprises of all tools and tips learnt in individual lessons.

Module 03 - Tableau & Power BI

​

Tableau has been the most commonly used application for data visualizations. Key concepts and tools are focused on Tableau Desktop skills:

3.1 Create Data Visualizations

3.2 Produce A Tableau Story

3.3 Create A Tableau Dashboard

3.4 Apply Optimization Techniques to Data

3.5 Power BI Functions

 

Module 04 - Python Basics 

​

An introduction to the latest data programming language – Programming language made easy.

​

4.1Key concepts and basic syntax in Python: Loops, conditions, and functions. Included are the following topics:  Variables, Printing,

4.2 Data Types, and Arithmetic Operations · Strings, Lists, and Loops

4.3 Creating Functions and Dictionaries 

4.4 Conditions and while Loops
